In its Statistics on Australian Government Procurement Contracts, the Australian Government reveals that it published 92,303 procurement contracts with a combined value of $80.8 billion in 2021-22.

Out of these contracts, $24.9 billion or 30.8% were awarded to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

For a while, things went very quiet in the mining and resources sector with no new mines, falling commodity prices and a high Australian dollar. Our own tender publishing data reflected the cyclic low.

Not all bidders are equal, and the best price may not always equate to the best solution. Smart buyers have cottoned onto the need for a comprehensive tender process that probes the bidders’ capabilities.
